2-3pm: “It’s Your Money,” is a free 8-week money management course being offered by the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center. Class will feature local financial experts who will answer questions and help participants gain confidence in controlling their finances. Learn a few quick dance steps at the Fullerton Historic Dancesport Center or jam to some ’80s classics and check out the Journey Tribute band, Lights. This Friday from 5-10pm join the Muckenthaler Cultural Center for the 38th Annual Kids Auction Gala, “An Evening Under The Stars” to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fullerton. The event will include a silent and live auction, dinner and entertainment. Cost is $125 per person. There will also be an Opportunity Drawing for $20,000 – Tickets $100 each and only 750 will be sold. For information call: (714) 871-1391, ext. 1004.

Be aware: Construction will begin later this month on much-needed improvements to Euclid St., from Orangethorpe Ave. to the 91 Freeway. The construction is expected to be completed within six weeks. Work hours will be from 7am-7pm, Monday through Saturday. Only one lane will be open in each direction during construction. Work later this month will also begin on the West Harbor Alley from Amerige Ave. to Wilshire Ave. behind where Branagan’s and Buffalo Exchange are located. This work will take place 6 days a week for 4 weeks from 6am-6pm. Further information can be obtained by calling the City of Fullerton Engineering Department at (714) 738-6845.

It is summer and everyone needs a vacation, including businesses, so there might not be as many things going on in town today but there still is quite a few regular weekly deals to take advantage of! Buy your tickets now for the Aug. 27 6-9pm Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association’s award-winning Vintage57 – A  Premiere Wine & Food Tasting Experience, featuring international cuisine and eclectic wines from around the globe at the Golleher Alumni House. The evening’s menu will be specially paired by Sommelier Diane DeLuca and a silent auction including wine, travel, golf and art items will be held throughout the evening in support of the Alumni Association student scholarship program. Mark you calendars now for Saturday, July 9 for Fullerton Park and Recreation Department’s “Parent’s Night Out.” While mom and dad are out enjoying themselves, the kids will have a ball with games, arts and crafts, dinner, and a variety of fun activities presented by department personnel. The event will be offered from 5-10 p.m. at Independence Park (801 W. Valencia Drive). It will be $15 per child or $25 for families with two or more children and children must be 3-12 years of age to participate. 4pm: The Water Rate Study Ad Hoc Committee will hold a second public meeting in the Council Chamber of Fullerton City Hall (303 W. Commonwealth Ave). The water rate study was prompted by the prospect of insufficient funds in the city budget to meet the rising costs of needed improvements to the city’s water infrastructure (pipelines, reservoirs, pump station equipment and wells). The results of the study and the proposed water rate increases are expected to be brought to the City Council in July.
