Fullerton events for Friday! July 22

It’s the beginning of another beautiful Fullerton weekend and we have plenty of ways for you to enjoy it. Don’t forget to mark you calendars for all the stuff that’s coming up too, including a massive 25-food truck event and a Mardi Gras event! Announcements:

On Sunday & Monday, July 10th and 11th, Hunger Artists Theatre will hold Auditions for The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus, By Christopher Marlowe, Directed by Amber Scott. This is not going to be your classical English Lit version of Dr. Faustus! We will be doing a stripped down version of Marlowe’s classic script about a doctor who sells his soul to the devil for a demon servant, Mephistopheles, to do his bidding for 24 years. Mark your calendar for next Friday (July 15) from 5-10pm for another Food Truck Round Up at Fullerton Union High School stadium (Berkeley/Lemon). There will be 25 food trucks gathered in one place to feed you dinner! Find your local favorites and some trucks from LA! Admission and parking are free! Eat dinner and help raise money for FUHS.

Mark your calendars now for the July 16, 6-10pm 5th Annual Mardi Gras in July presented by the WTLC in the Fullerton Museum Plaza. Tickets are $25 per person that includes two drink tickets. New this year will be “Jackson Square” where vendors from throughout Orange County will exhibit their wares and services in a festive Carnival atmosphere. There will also be a pie-eating contest. There will also be the “Taste of New Orleans” with delectable dishes from Bourbon Street – Fine Food and Drinks, the Cellar, The Olde Ship, Collette’s and Big B’s Barbeque among others. Bonne Musique Zydeco will provide live music, along with door prizes, fortunetellers, New Orleans’ dance lessons and street performers. Guests will enjoy a full bar including beer, wine, hurricanes and soft drinks.

Don’t miss the Historic Downtown Fullerton Food Tour presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center, Saturday, July 16, 11:30am – 2:30pm. Comedy Kaze and The Collaboratory Theater Group present a Summer Improv Workshop Series for $120/$100 with current student ID (Tuition is due in full on the first day of class). There are 4 sessions to choose from 1a/1b July 12-28 or 2a/2b August 2-18. All classes will be held at the Monkey Wrench Collective in downtown. The workshop will include stage vocalization & movement, idea acceptance, mime work, scene games, story creation and more.

It is summer and everyone needs a vacation, including businesses, so there might not be as many things going on in town today but there still is quite a few regular weekly deals to take advantage of! Happy Friday! Not only is it the beginning of a new month, but for some of us it’s the beginning of our July 4 weekend and we have plenty of ways to keep you occupied! Keep yourself cool by sitting in a theater at many of the stage productions going on in town or check out downtown Fullerton’s newest eatery Kentro Greek Kitchen! And while you’re there plan on checking out some Art Walk venues!!

Announcements:

Mark your calendars now for the July 16, 6-10pm 5th Annual Mardi Gras in July presented by the WTLC in the Fullerton Museum Plaza. Tickets are $25 per person that includes two drink tickets. New this year will be “Jackson Square” where vendors from throughout Orange County will exhibit their wares and services in a festive Carnival atmosphere. There will also be a pie-eating contest. There will also be the “Taste of New Orleans” with delectable dishes from Bourbon Street – Fine Food and Drinks, the Cellar, The Olde Ship, Collette’s and Big B’s Barbeque among others. Bonne Musique Zydeco will provide live music, along with door prizes, fortunetellers, New Orleans’ dance lessons and street performers. Guests will enjoy a full bar including beer, wine, hurricanes and soft drinks.

Don’t miss the Historic Downtown Fullerton Food Tour presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center, Saturday, July 16, 11:30am – 2:30pm. Comedy Kaze and The Collaboratory Theater Group present a Summer Improv Workshop Series for $120/$100 with current student ID (Tuition is due in full on the first day of class). There are 4 sessions to choose from 1a/1b July 12-28 or 2a/2b August 2-18. All classes will be held at the Monkey Wrench Collective in downtown (204 N. Harbor Blvd.) The workshop will include stage vocalization & movement, idea acceptance, mime work, scene games, story creation and more.

All Day: From today through July 11 the Small Dog Area of the Pooch Park will be closed to allow for grass recovery and maintenance repairs from heavy use. There will be a temporary area fenced off in the large dog area for small dogs during the closure.
