This Thursday from 2-3pm “It’s Your Money,” a free 8-week money management course will be offered by the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center. Class will feature local financial experts who will answer questions and help participants gain confidence in controlling their finances. Topics to be discussed include annuities, mutual funds, and more. Registration is required for the course, for registration and further information call (714) 738-6305. While construction of a new center is under way, the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center is temporarily located at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (400 W. Commonwealth Ave.)

Cafe Hidalgo invites you to join them in the courtyard for their $10 for 10 wine tasting in the Villa September 7th at 6pm. Tickets are on sale now at Cafe Hidalgo in person or by phone with a credit card. You will have about twenty different wines to choose from and they are all different price ranges, so there will be a few surprises too.

This Saturday, Sept. 3 join the Fullerton Pooch Park for their 4th Annual Pooch Walk at Laguna Lake Park at 9:30am. Visit their website to pre-register.

The Community Partners organization presents “Enjoy Life with a Smile,” a three-week series focusing on positive communication and healthy empowerment at the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center (temporarily located at St. Mary’s Church at 400 W. Mark your calendars now for Fullerton Public Library‘s dedication ceremony and celebration on Saturday, July 23 to commemorate the Main Library’s re-opening and expansion. Activities are planned for the whole family, including author book signings, raffles, a children’s puppet show, and a performance by Grammy Award-nominated singer Zak Morgan.The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., with the Main Library reopening for activity immediately after. 5:30pm: The Fullerton Arboretum hosts its annual fundraiser, “Midsummer Night in the Garden,” on the Orchard Lawn. This year’s theme is “Flavors of California,” where guests can enjoy the evening air while dining al fresco. Tickets are $125 per person for the festivities that begin with a champagne reception and silent auction before the party moves to the lawn for fine cuisine, wine and moonlit dancing featuring the music of the On the Lam Band. A live auction will take place on the lawn. Tickets are available on the Arboretum website or by calling Janet McGarvey at (657) 278-4792.

5-9pm: Bootlegger’s Brewery will have their tasting room open and dinner served by the The Swinging Kitchen food truck.

6pm: The Fullerton College Music Department presents Concerts on the Quad in the Fullerton College Quad. Under the direction of Tony Mazzaferro, the Community Band will be once again presenting their Concerts on the Quad series. Patrons are welcome to bring a picnic supper and lawn chairs or blankets for sitting on. The concert is free. This concert is the Music from Broadway and the Movies.

6-10pm: The 5th Annual Mardi Gras in July presented by the WTLC will be held in the Fullerton Museum Plaza. Tickets are $25 per person that includes two drink tickets. New this year will be “Jackson Square” where vendors from throughout Orange County will exhibit their wares and services in a festive Carnival atmosphere. There will also be a pie-eating contest. There will also be the “Taste of New Orleans” with delectable dishes from Bourbon StreetFine Food and Drinks, the Cellar, The Olde Ship, Collette’s and Big B’s Barbeque among others. Bonne Musique Zydeco will provide live music, along with door prizes, fortunetellers, New Orleans’ dance lessons and street performers. Guests will enjoy a full bar including beer, wine, hurricanes and soft drinks.

6pm-1am: Xtreme Bowling at AMF Carter Lanes costs $17.50 for 2 hours of bowling & shoe rental (3 person minimum) with xtreme black lighting, xtreme special effects and xtreme music.

On Saturday, June 18, at 5:30pm The Bridge Juniors Dance Competition will be held at Cal State Fullerton, in the Titan Student Union. Mark your calendar now for June 25th 11am-4pm when Sprouts Photography will celebrate their 1st Anniversary at The Garden (424 W. Commonwealth Ave.) In honor of their business birthday, they will be doing FREE branded facebook photos, will have food, giveaways and a contest! Applications are being accepted from persons interested in filling a vacancy on the Energy and Resource Management Committee, an advisory group to the Fullerton City Council. Deadline for returning the applications is 5 p.m. Monday, June 27. The Energy and Resource Management Committee advises the council on such matters as city-wide recycling programs, alternate energy sources and energy conservation measures. The vacancy is for an unexpired term that ends Dec. 31, 2012. Applicants must be Fullerton residents or be employed in Fullerton, and the position is volunteer (unpaid).
