Start your weekend early with the numerous Thirsty Thursday deals going on around town! Along with those we have the Farmer’s Market with live music for you to check out and all you can eat sushi for $20. It’s going to be a good day!

Just a reminder:

Sign your Teen up now for 6/27 1-3pm: “The Idea Place for Teens” at the Fullerton Museum Center – a class for Summer that invites youths in grades 7 through 9 to make original art on their own terms while experimenting with various media. The week-long class will let students work on projects of their own choosing, with museum staff and docents assisting in a loosely structured, open studio setting. Art projects may include working in acrylic paints, drawing, printmaking, jewelry-making, fused glass and resin casting. Tuition for the class is $90 for members of the Fullerton Museum Center and $105 for the general public. The tuition includes all materials. Class space is limited, register by calling the Museum Center at (714) 738-6545.

Things to do today:

All Day: From today through July 11 the Small Dog Area of the Pooch Park will be closed to allow for grass recovery and maintenance repairs from heavy use. There will be a temporary area fenced off in the large dog area for small dogs during the closure.

Our Fullerton Egg Hunt for adults means free stuff for you! Even better, on the weekends we hide multiple eggs around town! (Sign up for our RSS feed & you can get email notices as soon as we update the page with a clue!)

So many great things to do in Fullerton, let’s get to it!

9-10:30am: Morning Yoga in the Garden at the Fullerton Arboretum is $13/members $15/nonmembers. The class is appropriate for all levels including beginners. Ages 16 – 17 allowed with an adult. Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a mat if you have one. Call (657) 278-3407 for more information.

9am-1pm: The City of Fullerton hosts “Shredder Day” to allow residents to dispose of personal documents and papers at the City Hall visitor parking lot. For “Shredder Day,” citizens may bring five 10-inch-by-12-inch-by-16-inch boxes filled to the brim with material to be shredded for free.  Additional boxes over the five free loads will be charged $5 per box. Citizens may also bring old dead batteries to the April event for disposal. In addition, electronic waste will be collected for recycling. Also accepted are used or broken cell phones for the Women’s Transitional Living Center, a shelter for abused women and children.

9am-2pm: For under $20 you can enjoy brunch at Matador Cantina for breakfast classics with a Mexican-cuisine twist (omelettes, Huevos Rancheros, Mexican Breakfast Pizza and more). Drink specials include $8 Bottomless Champagne or Mimosas and $5 Bloody Marys, Greyhounds and Screwdrivers.

9am-5pm: Cal State Fullerton will host the 7th Annual Social Justice Summit “If Not Me, Then Who?” in the Titan Student Union. This event is free and open to the public, featuring workshops and keynote speakers Captain Paul Watson (animal rights activists and “Whale Wars” TV star) and Jamie Kilstein (comedian and co-host Citizen Radio).

10am: Nature Walks are held at the Fullerton Arboretum and are free.

10am: The Cal State Fullerton Relay for Life will be held at the CSUF Titan Track. This event is a 24-hour walk-a-thon to raise money for cancer research and treatment. This event is organized by CSUF students and is open to the community. There will also be free entertainment, prizes, food and lots of fun.

10am: Outdoor Fitness Boot Camp at the Student Recreation Center at Cal State Fullerton. To register, please visit the Recreation Services Desk, located on the second level of the SRC.

11am: Saturday Storytime at Barnes & Noble (1923 W. Malvern Ave.) is open to all ages to discover new books!

11am-2pm: Healthy Kids Day, a free community event, will be held at the North Orange County YMCA (2000 Youth Way) promoting healthy living with a community health fair, games and activities, group exercise demos of Zumba, Karate, youth sports, and so much more! AND a free BBQ.

11am-4pm: For $16.99/person you can head to AMF Carter Lanes for 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and All You Can Eat Pizza! (cheese or pepperoni, served by the slice). No other coupons can be accepted and there’s a minimum of 3 bowlers per lane.

The intensive introductory class includes guitar instruction, music games and visits to the Fender Gallers for $80 per student for museum members and $90 for the general public. The fee includes all materials, and acoustic Fender guitars will be available for students to use in class and at home.

10am-2pm: AS and the Foundation will be on the Fullerton College Campus through Friday 10am-2pm and 5-7pm registering participants for Hands Across California which will take place on April 17th. Hands Across California wants people to be registered, so they have a better idea of who is coming, but they expect a lot of spontaneous participation. (If students wish to volunteer they’ll provide a Name, Address, and Phone number to get a free T-shirt on the 17th, they will need to arrive at the quad at 11:30am for instructions.)
