Fullerton events for Wednesday, June 8

We don’t care if it’s cloudy, rainy or super hot outside, we’re still hiding eggs for #FullertonEggHunt! Weekend means more than one goes out each day! Will you find one?

8am-3pm: The Public School Arts Semi-Annual Fundraising Cactus and Succulent Plant Sale will be held at 1005 E. Commonwealth Ave. sponsored by Operation Art Gardens.

9am: Learn to Swim, a swim instruction program offered by Titan Recreation at Cal State Fullerton in the KHS pool. Lessons are available Saturdays and Sundays April 9 – May 14, 6 classes per session, and each session is $30. All ages and skill levels are welcome, private lessons are available upon request. 9-10:30am: Morning Yoga in the Garden at the Fullerton Arboretum is $13/members $15/nonmembers. The class is appropriate for all levels including beginners. Ages 16 – 17 allowed with an adult. Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a mat if you have one. Call (657) 278-3407 for more information.

9am-12pm: Eat the Yard! Organic Edible Gardening Series Part II: Eyes on the Harvest at the Fullerton Arboretum is $20/members, $25/nonmembers (Full series discount price: 3 classes for $50/members, $60/nonmembers). Gardener Jonathan Davis welcomes you back to his outdoor classroom at the Arboretum’s Organic Vegetable Garden to learn organic pest control, plant maintenance, and succession planting.

9am-2pm: For under $20 you can enjoy brunch at Matador Cantina for breakfast classics with a Mexican-cuisine twist (omelettes, Huevos Rancheros, Mexican Breakfast Pizza and more). Drink specials include $8 Bottomless Champagne or Mimosas and $5 Bloody Marys, Greyhounds and Screwdrivers.

10am-2pm: Prom Project’s first Boutique Day will be at the United Methodist Church of Fullerton (114 Pomona Ave) where girls will have the opportunity to be pampered by personal shoppers, who will assist them in finding the perfect dress and accessories to match. Make-up artist and hair dressers will be available to give beauty advice and demonstrate techniques.

10am-4pm: The Clearance Sale in The Potting Shed at the Fullerton Arboretum is open this weekend. No charge for admission and clearance sales apply to plants only.

10am-6pm: The Anaheim Heritage Music Festival will be held at the Wilshire Auditorium (315 E. Wilshire Ave.) Hear high school and middle school choral competition performances.

10:30am: Kids Climb Time at the Cal State Fullerton Student Recreation Center is $5 per visit for kids aged 7-17. Climbers will have the opportunity to learn how to properly climb a rock wall and improve communication, increase trust, encourage risk taking, and build teamwork skills among participants. 11am: Curious George will visit Storytime at Barnes & Noble (1923 W. Malvern Ave.) All ages are welcome (as are cameras!).

11am-2pm: Camp Bow Wow (91 fwy @ State College Blvd.) will have a Wiener Hunt for dogs! Instead of hunting for eggs, dogs get to hunt for hot dog pieces. Prizes awarded for fastest times by dog size. The event is free and will have dog-related and human-related vendors, food, raffles (all money donated to FOCHP.org). and more. Call to sign up your pooch (714) 533-2267.

11am-4pm: For $16.99/person you can head to AMF Carter Lanes for 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and All You Can Eat Pizza! (cheese or pepperoni, served by the slice). No other coupons can be accepted and there’s a minimum of 3 bowlers per lane.

11am-4pm: The Bicycle Tree will be holding a hands-on bicycle repair workshop at the Fullerton Train Station (120 E. Santa Fe Ave.) providing the tools and help you need to learn how to fix your own bike. (There is a $5 suggested donation per hour but now one will be turned away for lack of funds.)

11am-10pm: To promote their new kids menu launch, Chipotle is giving away a free kids meal every Saturday and Sunday in April when parents purchase an entree meal (burrito, salad, burrito bowl or tacos). (501 N. State College Blvd. # A)

12pm-2am: The Twisted Vine has their weekly flight for wine & beer tasting. This week Flight 1 is $30 for 3oz. pour of 3 wines from Napa Valley, Flight 2 is $15 for 2oz pour of 3 reds from Argentina, and Flight 3 is $15 for 5oz pours of 3 beers from Brasserie Dubuisson – Wallonia, Belgium.

The keynote address will be delivered by Elizabeth G. Macias, a federal public defender in Santa Ana.

2pm: Footloose: The Musical is presented at Cal State Fullerton’s Little Theater for $20.

2-4pm: The Heritage House Weekend Tours continue this weekend at the Fullerton Arboretum. Reservations not required; tours free however voluntary donations of $2/person are encouraged to help support the Heritage House.

2-5:30pm: Bootlegger’s Brewery will have another Sport Your Stein Night with the Short Stop BBQ food truck there to serve you dinner. Bring your own stein/cup/drinking vessel, and we will fill it for a special price! Plus there will be a Best Stein competition at 7:30pm!

3-8pm: Fullerton Parks and Recreation present Urban Art Festival at Independence Park (801 W. Valencia Dr.) for free. This all ages events will feature music, art, dance workshops, and more. Hear Rakaa with DJ Babu, Dilated Peoples and more performing live. B-Boy exhibitions, freestyle dance workshops, etc. (All are invited to PÄS Gallery at 8:30pm for the 2nd weekend of the “SOUNDS ON COTTON exhibit presented by X IS THE WEAPON & LISTEN CLOTHING…”)
