Be aware: Construction will begin later this month on much-needed improvements to Euclid St., from Orangethorpe Ave. to the 91 Freeway. The construction is expected to be completed within six weeks. Work hours will be from 7am-7pm, Monday through Saturday. Only one lane will be open in each direction during construction. Work later this month will also begin on the West Harbor Alley from Amerige Ave. to Wilshire Ave. behind where Branagan’s and Buffalo Exchange are located. This work will take place 6 days a week for 4 weeks from 6am-6pm. Further information can be obtained by calling the City of Fullerton Engineering Department at (714) 738-6845.

The Fullerton Museum Center is hosting “Camp da Vinci,” which will be led by guest artist Katherine England on August 15-19, 9am-1pm, and will combine art and science as participants study the observation techniques and experiments of Leonardo da Vinci. The camp, designed for youths in the 4th-8th grades, will use art and hands-on experiments to explore topics including flight, architecture, anatomy and physics. Fee for camp is $220 per student, and will include all materials. Space is limited in the camp and advance prepaid registration is required.  Registration and further information may be obtained by calling the Education Office of the Fullerton Museum Center at (714) 738-3136.

This week’s lecture: “A Warm Culture in an Inhospitably Cold Environment: Experiences in Teaching Inuit Language Teachers” by Bertha Segal-Cook, trainer of language educators and OLLI member.

10am-3pm: Comedy Kaze and The Collaboratory Theater Group present session 2 of their Summer Improv Workshop Series for $120/$100 with current student ID (Tuition is due in full on the first day of class). Get your tickets now as Cafe Hidalgo invites you to join them in the courtyard for the $10 for 10 wine tasting in the Villa July 27th at 6pm. Yes…it’s 10 tastes of wines for only $10. Tickets are on sale now at Cafe Hidalgo in person or by phone with a credit card. You will have about twenty different wines to choose from and they are all different price ranges, so there will be a few surprises too. Don’t miss it!!

You can learn how to protect your skin by attending a special free health program this Wednesday at 10am, hosted by the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center. Dr. Yvette Cressey will discuss the importance of regular skin care, as well as skin cancer prevention and awareness. Persons attending will also have an opportunity to ask the doctor about dermatological issues. The program, sponsored by CareMore Health Plan, is free, but pre-registration is required and may be made by calling the Senior Center at (714) 738-6305. The Fullerton Senior Multi Service Center is temporarily located at St. Mary’s Church (400 W. Commonwealth Ave.), while construction begins on a new center.

IMPORTANT: Major road work set for north Harbor Blvd. is set to begin tomorrow Wednesday, July 20, on street improvements on Harbor Blvd. and Bastanchury Rd. as part of the St. Jude Medical Center. Northbound traffic lanes on Harbor will be reduced for the duration of the construction period, and motorists are advised to take alternate routes. Don’t forget, tomorrow at 6:30pm the Fullerton City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed West Coyote Hills project. The meeting will be in the Council Chamber of Fullerton City Hall (303 W. Commonwealth Ave.) Developer Pacific Coast Homes proposes to build a maximum of 760 housing units in an approximate 180-acre portion of the area.

Tomorrow Comedy Kaze and The Collaboratory Theater Group present the start of session 1 of their Summer Improv Workshop Series for $120/$100 with current student ID (Tuition is due in full on the first day of class). There are 4 sessions to choose from 1a/1b July 12-28 or 2a/2b August 2-18. All classes will be held at the Monkey Wrench Collective in downtown (204 N. Harbor Blvd.) The workshop will include stage vocalization & movement, idea acceptance, mime work, scene games, story creation and more.

Mark your calendars now for the July 16, 6-10pm 5th Annual Mardi Gras in July presented by the WTLC in the Fullerton Museum Plaza. Tickets are $25 per person that includes two drink tickets. New this year will be “Jackson Square” where vendors from throughout Orange County will exhibit their wares and services in a festive Carnival atmosphere. There will also be a pie-eating contest. There will also be the “Taste of New Orleans” with delectable dishes from Bourbon Street – Fine Food and Drinks, the Cellar, The Olde Ship, Collette’s and Big B’s Barbeque among others. Bonne Musique Zydeco will provide live music, along with door prizes, fortune tellers, New Orleans’ dance lessons and street performers. 6-10pm: STAGEStheatre is holding Auditions for Psycho Beach Party, an upcoming production. Auditions are 6-8:00pm and Callbacks are from 8:30-10pm. Please bring swimsuit attire in case you are called back. Whatever you would be comfortable wearing at the beach. The Characters of Provoloney and Yo-Yo (males) share an onstage kiss. 6:30pm: The Fullerton Historic Ballroom & Dancesport Center hosts single classes. If you join the Meetup Group you can get a discounted $10 rate (classes are normally $12 per person). Mention the Meetup to receive a discount! No partner required.

6:30pm: Join in Bar Olympics at Roscoe’s Famous Deli. 2 person teams play 8ball, 9ball, Darts, Shuffleboard, and Golden Tee golf.

6:30-9:30pm: The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at Fullerton City Hall, in Council Chambers (303 W. Commonwealth Ave.) The Commission duties and responsibilities include study and policy recommendations related to community service concerns, projects, and programs. Agenda items include a presentation on the environmental management of Laguna Lake.

7pm: Check out a free live show from Stretford End at The Continental Room.

7pm: The OCBG (Orange County Board Gamers) Meetup Group usually meets on Mondays. The membership dues are $5 /year but new players are always welcome. The group usually plays “Family Strategy” or “Euro” boardgames like Settlers of Catan, Ticket To Ride, Puerto Rico, etc. These games are fun, fast playing, and easily taught. The group was organized by and is held at Fullerton’s own Coworking Place.

7-9pm: The General Plan Advisory Committee Meeting will be held at the Fullerton Main Library. This Regular meeting is held to discuss the update to the City’s General Plan.

7-10pm: Hunger Artists Theatre will hold Auditions for The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus, By Christopher Marlowe, Directed by Amber Scott. This is not going to be your classical English Lit version of Dr. Faustus! We will be doing a stripped down version of Marlowe’s classic script about a doctor who sells his soul to the devil for a demon servant, Mephistopheles, to do his bidding for 24 years. 7-10pm: Join Max Bloom’s Cafe Noir for their French Film Festival throughout July and August. Admission is free for this week’s showing of  Triplets of Belleville (2004).

7-10pm: Riff Haus Studios will have an all ages show for $8 with The Hoax, The U-Proofs, Dr. Madcap, the Lucid Puppets. and Professor Panyck’s Schizophrenic Circus.

7:30pm: The Diabetes Support Group (Sweet Peas) meets in the Community Services Conference Room at 130 W. Bastanchury Rd. in Fullerton. Call (800) 870-7537 for more information.
